Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov has detailed the “shared achievements” of India-Russia defense ties as the foundation for a major new push in military cooperation. He praised the joint production of BrahMos missiles, Su-30 MKI jets, T-90 tanks, and AK-203 rifles.
Alipov stated that these successes, born from a 60-year partnership, have moved “beyond a traditional buyer-seller model” and “will continue to expand.”
Building on this legacy, Alipov announced plans for “local production of the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter” and new collaborations on drones and advanced radar.
This emphasis on proven, successful partnership comes at a critical time. It follows claims by Donald Trump that India would stop buying “beneficial” Russian oil, a claim the US has backed with tariffs.
By highlighting tangible, successful “Make in India” projects, Russia is reinforcing its reliability as a partner, contrasting with the “volatile” relationship with Washington.
