England secured a commanding victory over India in the second T20I, achieving a record 125-run win to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Batting first, England managed to post an impressive total of 201 runs, recovering from a slow start. Phil Salt was instrumental in the innings, scoring a remarkable 70 off 44 balls, while Sam Curran remained unbeaten with 41 runs from 24 deliveries, helping the team cross the 200-run threshold.

India’s chase of 202 was met with early aggression as openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma opted for an attacking approach. However, England’s pace bowlers quickly turned the tide. Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue spearheaded the bowling attack, dismantling India’s batting lineup and reducing them to a disappointing 76 all out in less than 12 overs. This crushing defeat marked India’s largest loss by runs in T20 internationals.

Josh Tongue was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets, while Archer’s early breakthroughs triggered India’s collapse. Both Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan were the joint top scorers for India, each making only 13 runs, underlining the team’s batting struggles.

Following the match, India’s captain Shreyas Iyer acknowledged the team’s subpar performance, while head coach Gautam Gambhir defended the aggressive batting strategy, insisting that it has yielded success in the past and will be maintained despite the heavy setback.

With this decisive win, England moved closer to clinching the series, needing just one more victory, whereas India now faces a critical situation, requiring wins in the remaining matches to have any chance of turning the series around.
