Australia secured a 3-1 victory over Poland in Brisbane, advancing to the next round of the Davis Cup. The decisive win came courtesy of Alex de Minaur, who triumphed over Kamil Majchrzak with a 6-3, 6-3 score at Pat Rafter Arena.

De Minaur, currently ranked world No. 9, showcased his strong form by also winning his singles match against Maks Kasnikowski earlier in the competition. His performance was pivotal in ensuring Australia’s success in the tie.

The victory was set up by an impressive doubles match, where Max Purcell and Rinky Hijikata defeated the Polish duo of Jan Zielinski and Karol Drzewiecki. The pair won 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in a match lasting 77 minutes. Purcell’s powerful returns and aces were instrumental in capturing the first-set tiebreak, while Hijikata maintained his serve, leading to a critical service break in the second set.

This win was crucial for Australia, especially after a prior loss to Ecuador had increased the pressure to perform against Poland. With the victory, Australia moves forward to a qualifying round next year, which could secure them a spot in the 2027 Davis Cup Finals in Italy.
